Udhwarthanam

Udhwarthanam is a traditional Ayurvedic treatment in which the patient is given a deep tissue massage using a herbal powder that stimulates blood circulation, promotes lymphatic drainage and enhances metabolism. In Udhwarthanam the massage is performed in an upward direction, against the direction of the body hair. The valves inside veins that do not work properly open up during this type of massage promoting increased blood circulation. This massage also activates the sensory and motor nerves. Udhwarthanam is only done after preparing the body with Abhyangam.
