Chavitti Thirummu

Chavitti Thirummu is Ojaswi’s flagship offering. It is a unique kalaripayattu massage technique using the therapist’s feet. This technique was used traditionally in Kerala to mould the muscles and body agility of young kalaripayattu and kathakali performers. The therapist holds onto a rope tied to the ceiling and applies the right amount of body weight to the marma points and muscles with graceful sweeping strokes of their feet. The result is muscle and body restructuring improving the strength and flexibility of the patient, such as opening of the hip and thoracic areas.

What is Chavitti Thirummu exactly?

Chavitti Thirummu is a traditional Kalari massage where the therapist uses their feet, applying body weight through sweeping strokes to stimulate marma points and restructure deep muscles. It’s a rare, ancient technique used to build strength, flexibility, and structural alignment.

Is it painful or intense?

While it’s a deep tissue therapy, the pressure is carefully controlled based on your body type and condition. Most clients report a powerful release of tension, followed by lightness and improved mobility.

Who is this treatment ideal for?

It’s especially recommended for:

  • People with chronic back pain or sciatica

  • Individuals with restricted mobility or stiffness

  • Those needing postural correction or muscle realignment
It’s also great for performers, athletes, and anyone with deep muscular tension.

Can anyone receive Chavitti Thirummu?

It may not be suitable for frail individuals, those with fractures, or certain spinal injuries. A consultation is required beforehand to ensure it’s safe and beneficial for your condition.

How should I prepare for the session?

Come with a light stomach, wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes, and avoid heavy meals 2 hours before. Post-treatment rest or a steam bath is recommended to enhance the effects.
